Jacqueline B. Fluhr, a longtime Liberty resident, died on Sunday November 30, 2014 at Bethany Village, a Senior Living Community in Bethany, PA. She was 89. She was born on March 15, 1925 in Cherryville, NC to the late John and Isador Carpenter Black.
Jacqueline was a Home Economics Teacher and a secretary for Cornell Cooperative Extension. She was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church; St. Paul's Senior Citizens; Liberty Belles; Catskill Art Society; Sullivan County Historical Society; Tri-Valley AARP and former member of Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
Survivors include her brother, Mark Black and his wife Betty of Cherryville, NC; two nieces, Sador Black of Kentucky and Jamie Cain of Tennessee; step-daughters, Louise Kalantar of Edmonton, Canada and Ann Jones of Baltimore, MD; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond J. Johnson in 1971 and her second husband, Thomas W. Fluhr in 1988, a niece and a nephew in North Carolina and a step-daughter in Virginia.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 6 at 11 AM at the Liberty Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ryan Schlimgen will officiate. Burial has taken place at Liberty Cemetery.
