Lena May Conklin Rogers DuMond

Lena May Conklin Rogers DuMond, a lifelong area resident, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. She was 96 years young. The daughter of the late Walter and Nellie Vandermark Conklin, she was born on July 20, 1918 in Middletown, NY, the oldest of 7 children.
A longtime resident of Livingston Manor, Lena drove taxi with her husband for their small taxi service for 18 years. She was a member of Livingston Manor Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW. Lena also received numerous awards for her volunteer work for the Office of the Aging.
Lena is survived by her two daughters, Alice Donovan of Florida and Virginia "Ginger" Atkins and her companion Don Nichols of Parksville, NY; her son, Dennis Rogers of Liberty; nine grandchildren, Crystal Kirchner, Leslie Atkins, Willow Atkins and her companion Fred, all of Liberty, NY, Karen David and companion Rip of Liberty, Andy Rogers of Liberty, Melissa Delgado and her husband Gilbert of Florida and Diane and Dennis Rogers of Mississippi. Lena also leaves behind countless great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther LeRoy and Rita Bailey; four brothers, Walter "Bud", Albert "Mike", Richard "Dick" and James "Jimmy" Conklin. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Niles Rogers and her second husband, Lambert DuMond of Livingston Manor; son, Herbert "Herbie" Rogers of Livingston Manor and her grandson, John Rogers of Downsville.
Lena lived a full and happy life camping, fishing, crocheting, babysitting and visiting with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Friends may call on Sunday January 4 from 7 - 9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty. Funeral services will be on Monday January 5 at 11 AM with Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiating. Burial will follow services at Lew Beach Cemetery.
Lena's family requests that memorial contributions be made to Liberty United Methodist Church Building Fund, 170 North Main St. Liberty, NY 12754
