Roberta Denise Horace
Roosevelt, Long Island, formerly of Monticello, NY
Roberta Denis Horace, 53, died after a short illness at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, NY. on Monday February 4, 2013. She was born on Feb. 19, 1959 to the late Hosea Horace and Myrtle Lee Cleveland in Monticello, NY.
After graduating from Monticello High School, Roberta worked at Nassau County Medical Center before going on to work as a medical biller for Jzanus Healthcare Financial in Floral Park, NY until she became too ill to work.
Roberta touched many lives throughout her stay her on earth. She is most known and loved for her passion of cooking for her family and friends. No one ever had a reason to leave her home hungry as every Sunday was a day with plenty of food and entertainment at her home. A real math wizard, she graduated early with the class of 1976 because of her intelligence and passion for education. Roberta lived a simple but happy life.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Keith Horace, Ziare and Jabahri White, all of Roosevelt, LI; a very special great-nephew, Korey Jones of Hartford, CT, who she loved dearly and raised as her very own son; her longtime companion, James White of Roosevelt, LI; three grandchildren, Keondra Morray Horace, Kylah Jeffries and Dylon Horace; three sisters, Helen Bonner of Plainville, CT, Janette Williams of Monticello, NY and Ethel Mason of Rochester, NY; two brothers, Harold Horace of Schenectady, NY and Gerry Horace of Monticello; a foster brother, William Merchant of Florida; six aunts, Annie Bell O'Bannon, Lilly Andrews, Mable Horace, Louise Massey and Annie Lee Kelly; 15 nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends. She was predeceased by four sisters, Virginia Brown, Jurdine Horace, Patricia Horace and Leona Horace and two brothers, Hosea Horace Jr. and Carl Horace.
Although her stay was short, the family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Mercy Hospital. It would be hard to pick out any nurses and assistants because all that had contact with Roberta were exceptional in their bedside manner while caring for her. We especially like to thank Dr. Mundia, Dr. M. Ali, Dr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Dr. Husani and PA Assistant Robyn and all that we may have missed. Thank you to Chaplin Gettman for all your assistance in doing what you do best.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday February 12 at 1 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St. Monticello, NY. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 1 PM.
