Obituary of Christine Sophia Burns

Christine Sophia Burns of Monticello passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Wilson Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Stella Gerczak Matusewski, born in Warwick, NY.

Christine was a financial officer for many years working at many different companies throughout her career such as Resorts Pontiac-Buick-Cadillac of Monticello, Mulvey’s Marine and finally retiring from Mountain Candy. She was an active member of her community and a member of the Professional Business Women Network, Sorority and the United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew and loved her she will be sadly missed; the majority of the condolences agree that “She was a great lady”. In 2002 she lost the love of her life John Burns.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Michele (Hank) Starr and her grandson Marshall Starr, her sister in law Marcia Burns and John’s children; John (Kathleen) Burns, Patrick (Elise) Burns and Leslie (Rick) Olmsted, and grandchildren Sean, Heather, Jaycob, Matthew and Ryan Burns, and her little love great granddaughter Cypress Papacharalambous. Her siblings Joan (John) Galiski, Helene (Casimir) Wesolowski, Sandra Koselnak and Deborah Sztendor, and a host of friends.

There will be a memorial service on April 7, 2018 at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home 55 St. Johns Street, Monticello NY 12701 from 10:00am-12:00pm. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Jackie Carter officiating.
