Bowers, a longtime White Sulphur Springs resident, passed away on Monday September 28, 2015 at Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY. He was 85 years of age. The son of the late Otto and Ida Misner Bowers, he was born in December 25, 1929 in Middletown, NY. Doug was a US Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He was retired from his position as a Field Representative of NYSE&G in Liberty, NY. He was a longtime member of White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Panther Mountain Hunting Club in Willowemoc, NY. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Thomas of Liberty; stepsons, Bruce Rosencranse of Youngsville and Lee (Lori) Rosencranse of Cooks Falls, NY; grandchildren, Danielle Lewis and her companion Kevin Walden, Jonnelle Bowers and her companion Felix Rodriquez, Michelle Thomas and her companion. Victor Kimmons and Jordon Thomas and his companion Lisa Wilson, all of Liberty, NY; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; a niece Cynthia Bowers of Big Indian, NY and a nephew, Timothy Bowers of New Paltz, NY. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys Bowers; his second wife, Ruth Rosencranse Bowers and a brother, Donald Bowers. Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 2, 2015 from 7 - 9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY. Funeral services will take place at Ramsay's Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3 at 2 PM. Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate. Funeral services with Military Honors will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY. A Luncheon will be held at the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church following the services.
