Obituary of Hilda Seidel
Home: Thompson, New York USA
Place of Birth: Hamburg, Germany
Hilda Seidel, 106, passed away at the Skilled Nursing Unit at CRMC on January 12, 2018. We will dearly miss our beloved Mutti and Oma. Hilda was born in Hamburg, Germany, on December 2, 1911 to Bertha and Friedrich Lorenzen, sister to Hans Lorenzen.
After graduating from school Hilda worked for a Hamburg import/export company. In 1938 she moved to Landsberg/Warthe, where she joined her husband, Karl Sorensen. Their happiness was shattered by the second world war which took the lives of her husband, brother and mother. Eventually Hilda and her infant daughter made their way back to Hamburg and started a new life. After the death of her second husband, Herbert Seidel, Hilda immigrated to the U.S. to be close to her daughter and family.
We have always been inspired by Hilda's determination and strength to fully embrace each chapter of her life.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Petra and husband, Dr. John Muccia of Liberty; her grandson, Michael Muccia of Liberty, granddaughter, Monica Scott and her husband, Neil, and her great-grandsons, Jacob and John of Houston, TX. She is also survived by many friends in New York as well as by nieces and nephews in Germany.
While living at the Skilled Nursing Unit, for the past 6 and half years, Hilda was skillfully and compassionately cared for by Dr. Sheldon Leidner an a wonderful staff of various SNU professionals. The family would like to thank each and everyone for their kindness and dedication. We also wish to thank Pastor Johanna from St. Paul's Church and Pastor Bob for their spiritual guidance. And mother's visitors who so kindly stopped by.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 24 Chestnut St., Liberty, NY 12754, Rev. Johanna Andritz officiating.
