Frederick S. Thompson, a lifetime Sullivan County resident, passed away on Monday June 26, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center at the age of 81. Fred was born on March 22, 1936 in Liberty, NY to the late Frederick S. and Ida Everett Thompson.
Fred was retired from his position as Auto Parts Manager for M & M Auto Group in Liberty, NY. He served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 where he was a paratrooper. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty. He was a charter member of Liberty Jaycees and was a member of the Assn. of Barbershop Singers in Liberty, NY.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Ruth M. Thompson at home; his daughters, Wendy Thompson Browne and her husband Kevin Patrick of Norfolk, MA and Marcy Rae Thompson of New York City; brother, Jack Thompson and his wife Billie of New Braunfels, TX; sister, Dolores Gabshian of Monticello, NY; one grandson, Kyle Thompson Browne of Norfolk, MA; a sister-in-law, Justine Brunetti (Al) of Johnson City, NY; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Hosking of Middletown, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Everett S. Thompson.
Visiting hours are on Friday June 30, 2017 from 5 - 9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 1 at 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 81 S. Main St. Liberty. Burial will follow in Hurleyville Cemetery, Hurleyville, NY.
