Schellhaas, a longtime resident of Bethel, NY, passed away on February 6, 2015 at the Roscoe Regional Rehab & RHCF in Roscoe, NY. She was 90 years of age. The daughter of the late Henry and May Nunn Reichert, she was born on March 26, 1924 in New York City. Dot was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and had worked as a legal secretary for Sam Friedman's law offices in Monticello, NY. She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Schellhaas and his wife Regina of Rougemont, NC and Bruce Schellhaas and his wife Andre of Hillsboro, OR and her special grandchildren, Andrew and Briana, both of Oregon and by several good friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Schellhaas and by her brother, Henry Reichert Jr. Dot and husband Bob moved to Bethel, NY around 1950. Rose and John Bogaert became lifelong friends many years ago. The loving presence of Rose and John in Dot's later years as she was aging became a blessing and comfort to her and her family. Neighbors Larry and Lisa Schick were always around to lend a helping hand or a floral arrangement to brighten things up. Dot loved to visit her grandchildren, whether in Oregon when she was still able to travel or when they came to Bethel. Until her recent illness, Dot was living on her own and enjoying life on her own terms. She will be missed by all in their own ways but remembered for her quiet and gentle presence in our lives.
