Raoul "Ralph" J. Matteini
Sanford, Florida, formerly of Pleasant Valley and Mongaup Valley, NY
Raoul "Ralph" J. Matteini of Sanford, Florida, passed away at his residence in Sanford, FL surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 26, 2015. He was 74. He was the son of Raoul and Gizella Slimack Matteini and was born on December 29, 1940 in Queens, NY.
Raoul was a retired police officer for the Town of Poughkeepsie and was an amateur radio operator whose call letters were WA2HSM. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Fire Dept. He also enjoyed fishing and was a member of Swinging Bridge Water Ski Assn. of Mongaup Valley, NY. He was also an avid baseball fan, always cheering for the Atlanta Braves.
Raoul is survived by his wife, Carol A. Scheid Matteini at home; 2 sons, Russell J. Matteini and his wife Michele of Lake Mary, Fl and Raoul J. Matteini II of Sanford, Fl.; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Hoffman and her husband Luis of Greenwood Lake, NY; special cousins, Dr. Martin Salamack and wife Deborah of Middletown, NY; a granddaughter, Sierra Rose Matteini; nephews, Louis and Austin Hoffman and special friends, Irwin Litt of Monticello, NY; Barry and Millie Sterner of Sanford, FL and Guy and Linda Jenkins of Roper. NC. He was predeceased by his son, Robert J. Matteini in 2004.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Stewart Cemetery, Kauneonga Lake, NY, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Rev. David Coon will officiate.
