Henry A. Rumsey, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center at the age of 76. The son of the late Henry M. and Ella (Gilson) Rumsey, he was born on May 22, 1940 in Sparrowbush, NY.
He worked most of his life in retail management, most notably for Florsheim's at various locations.
Henry was an active community member and was a Deacon of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in White Lake, NY; Captain of the White Lake Fire Company Fire Police; Vice-President of Smallwood Civic Assn.; President of Bethel Senior Building Committee; member of Sullivan County RSVP Seniors ; a member of the Office of the Aging of Sullivan County and a Past President of the Bethel-Smallwood Senior Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marian Diana Brucher Rumsey at home; sons, Kevin A. Rumsey (Trish) of Stem, NC, Keith H. Rumsey (Karin) of Bethel, NY and Kraig D. Rumsey (Kim) of Decatur, GA; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Gobel of Monticello, NY; brothers, Jerry Rumsey (Barbara) of Eldred, NY, George Rumsey (Sherrill) and Douglas Rumsey (Nancy of Port Jervis, NY. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jim Rumsey and a grandson, Franklin Andrew Rumsey.
In accordance with Henry's wishes, cremation will be private.
