Obituary of Joan M. Tursi

Home: Liberty, New York USA Place of Birth: Bronx, New York USA Joan M. Tursi Liberty, New York Joan M. Tursi, a 60-year resident of Sullivan County, passed away on November 27, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 78. The daughter of Vincent and Gertrude Tomer Allen, she was born on June 13, 1936 in the Bronx. Joan was a retired bookkeeper for Cablevision Industries in Liberty, NY. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Liberty and belonged to various civic groups. Survivors include her mother, Gertrude Allen of Phoenixville, PA; her husband, Michael Tursi at home; her son, Michael LoFaro and his wife Debra of Hendersonville, NC; daughters, Dina Viteretti of Pawling, NY and Patricia Tursi of White Plains, NY; three grandchildren, Justin and Ryan LoFaro and Amanda Viteretti and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Vincent Allen; a brother, Robert Allen and a son Arthur Tursi. A special thanks to Dr. Jonathan Weiss and the staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit for their outstanding care during Joan's illness. Visiting hours will take place on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty. Joan's funeral mass will be on Monday, December 1 at 11:45 AM at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Edward Straub officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
