Obituary of Ruth K. Wheeler

Wheeler Liberty, NY Ruth Wheeler, daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn Kortright of Liberty NY passed away on November 9th 2014 at the age of 78 at Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility in Roscoe NY. She was a lifelong area resident and former medical secretary for Dr. Sydney P. Schiff, school tax collector for the Liberty Central School District, and an assistant tax collector for both the Town and Village of Liberty. She was the wife of the late Jay J. Wheeler. She is survived by her son Kort Wheeler and wife Audrey of White Sulphur Springs, NY; stepsons, Thomas J. Wheeler and wife Sarah of Glenwood, IA and Bradon G. Wheeler and wife Joanne of Tamarac, FL; her sister Barbara Benton and husband Curt of Ft. Myers, FL.; her grandchildren, Wendy Miller and husband Matt of Washington, IA, Rebecca Miller and husband Jeff of Lafayette, IN, Cinda McCoy and husband Tim of Omaha NE, Claire Secrett of Longmont, CO, Adam Wheeler and Erica Wheeler, both of Tamarac, FL, Derek Wheeler and Angela Wheeler, both of White Sulphur Springs, NY and several nieces, nephews, cousins and great- grandchildren. Ruth was always straightforward....she took pride in not mincing her words. She was well known for her cooking, crocheting, crafts and love of Parks and Rec bus trips. Her knowledge of the area will be missed by all. Ruth loved watching sports especially softball with her cowbell ringing for every good play. Affectionately known as GG by so many, her wisdom and wit will be missed. Friends may call on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty, NY. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 14 at 1 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery following the services.
