Peter Condro, of Rock Hill, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Tuesday June 24, 2014 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 89.
The son of Nicholas and Mary Caparrotta Condro, he was born on Nov. 30, 1924 in Larchmont, NY. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII, attaining the rank of Seaman 1st Class. After the war, he worked as a securities trader for Gottesman Central National Corp in Manhattan. He married Nancy Citardi on June 4, 1949. Peter was a member of St. Peter's Church in Monticello, NY. He was very family oriented and was an avid fan of New York Sports Teams, particularly, NY Rangers, NY Yankees and the NY Giants. One of his fondest memories was that as a youth he delivered groceries to Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Peter Condro Jr. M.D. and his wife Dr. Alice Condro M.D. of Richmond VA; his daughter, Maryann Skaf and her husband John of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Dr. Nancyann Condro D.P.M. and her husband Edward Schanil of Rock Hill, NY; a sister, Teresa Giorgi of Baltimore MD; a brother-in-law Joseph Citardi and his wife Carmela of Greenwich CT; two sister-in-laws, Frances Condro of Pembroke, FL and Vicki Condro of Mamaroneck, NY; three grandchildren, Grace, Claire and Charles Condro and several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by four brothers and his beloved wife, Nancy, who died on Sept. 13, 2006.
The Condro family would like to thank the Staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center for the excellent care given to Peter during his stay.
Visiting hours will be on Friday June 27, 2014 from 5 - 9 PM at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St. Monticello, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter's Church, Monticello on Saturday, June 28 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Monticello, where Peter will be interred next to his beloved wife.
