Regina A. Schwartz of Liberty, NY and a lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Catskill Regional Medical Center after a brief illness with her family by her side. The daughter of the late Thomas F. Parks and Anna Hindley Parks, she was born on October 28, 1929 in Monticello, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, George R. Schwartz.
Regina was a retired RN and school nurse/teacher at Sullivan County BOCES. Throughout her career, she worked in many hospitals in New York City and Sullivan County. She was a former member of the Jeffersonville Ambulance Corp, a volunteer for Hospice and the Red Cross, a member of the Sullivan County Historical Society and the Red Hats.
Survivors include her sons, Michael T. Schwartz and his wife Linda of Jeffersonville, NY and Kevin G. Schwartz and his companion Susan Buzzell of White Sulphur Springs, NY; her grandchildren, Daniel and Mark Schwartz of Jeffersonville, NY, Jacob Schwartz and his fiancé Charlotte Peters of Kenoza Lake, NY and Eric Schwartz and his companion Samantha George of Neversink, NY. She is further survived by her sister-in-law and dear friend, Evelyn Parks of Forestburgh, NY; her niece Susan Landis and her husband Mike; her nephew, Thomas Parks and his children, Taylor and Maredith and several cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Parks and many dear friends.
Friends and family may call at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St. Liberty on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Regina's funeral mass will be held on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Peter's Church, 264 N. Main St. Liberty, NY. Burial at St. Peter's Cemetery in Liberty will immediately follow the mass.
In order to honor Regina's lifetime of care and compassion for others, the family wishes the any memorial contributions in her name be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or to the local food pantry of one's choosing.
