Dawn Gorton of Grahamsville, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday July 7, 2013 at home with her loving companion and caretaker, Albert Picard, at her side. She was 73.
Dawn was born in Walton, NY on September 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Richard H. and Juanita Constable Yarnes.
Dawn moved to Grahamsville in 1957 with her parents and two sisters, after graduating from Walton Central School. She worked as a teller for Community National Bank in Liberty until the birth of her daughters. She later worked at Sullivan County National Bank in Grahamsville and then at Sullivan Correctional Facility as a Secretary and Cashier, until her retirement in December 2004.
Dawn is survived by one daughter, Tina Pezzella of Woodbourne; a grandson, Blake Case; three graddaughters, Caitlin Pezzella, Kacia Kern and Anissa Avery; son-in-law, Ralph Soule; a brother, Richard C. Yarnes (Carol) of Walton, NY; three sisters, Juanita Robinson of Norwich, NY, Eleanor Donnelly of Walton, NY and Faye Yarnes of Liberty, NY.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Yarnes of Conesus, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Kern; sister, Evelyn Matthews and brother, Gail R. Yarnes.
Dawn was a member of Grahamsville United Methodist Church and was very comforted by and grateful for her church family. Her family would also like to thank Dr. Robert Dinsmore and the nurses and staff at Crystal Run Healthcare for their wonderful care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held at Grahamsville United Methodist Church on Saturday July 13, 2013 at 11 AM. Rev. Peggy Ann Sauerhoff and Rev. Robert Kersten will officiate.
