Obituary of Sheldon Bolotnick
Please share a memory of Sheldon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sheldon "Zem" Bolotnick, 91, of Mountaindale, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 after a short illness, at Orange Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Zem was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and World War II Army Veteran. He proudly served our country as a Corporal Technician Fifth Grade.
He was a retired pipefitter from local 269 in Newburgh and a member of the Woods Pond Rod and Gun Club in Woodridge. Although originally from Brooklyn he moved upstate in his 30's and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gun collecting, horses, target shooting and exercising. He enjoyed many years of retirement and when not spending treasured time with his grandchildren, he could be found at Slaters Garage in Woodridge, enjoying coffee and lively conversation with his friends. Zem was strong as an ox, stubborn as a mule, with a quick wit and seemingly boundless energy.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Tanya, whom he loved dearly; two daughters and sons-in-law Tina and Rene Paul of Greenfield Park and Tami and Gene Doyle, Jr. of Ferndale; and his three grandsons Justin Paul, Gene Doyle III and Patrick Doyle; he is also survived by his two sisters, one brother as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Zem's name can be made to any animal shelter of one's choice.
