My deepest sympathy for the Ruef and Dolgas family on the loss of Mike. All of Hasbrouck as well. Mike's legacy lives on with family, friends, and NCR. If time could really stand still, it would be the memories of my years at Neversink River Campgrounds. Nearly 47 ago, I spent many years at the campgrounds, babysitting, working the snack bar, attending the front both for pass holders, sitting under the apple tree, Christopher D and the Traveling 3 country band, the juke box under the pavillion, outdoor movie screen, snowmobiling and melting snow for water. Swimming in the Neversink River, building bonfires and riding minibikes, Grahamsville Fair, walking to Bum N Kels. The chicken farm, the flat rocks, the blue Charger muscle car. MIke's pickup truck with garbage piled high, the evergreen bushes being planted. All of our Long Island, Brooklyn, New Jersey, Putnam Cty,Westchester Cty, Rockland Cty...etc friendships built over the years. Mike and Julie and family built a get away heaven for great times in a great era with great people. These are memories that have made us appreciate how friendships can endure in a lifetime.
The campgrounds have drawn us back over the years, either to visit or spend the weekend to rekindle our youth. Mike and Julie and family have been a part of our lives since day number one- sadness has covered the campgrounds, but Mike's smile and every inch of the original farm will continue to be with us always.
I send my thoughts and prayers to everyone.
