Mother Lucille Williams March 3, 1924 – November 7, 2016 Mother Lucille Williams, affectionately known as "Lucy", a longtime resident of Sullivan County answered God's beckon call to come home on Monday afternoon, November 7, 2016 in the loving comfort of her home in Monticello, NY. The daughter of the late Jasper Huggins and Elizabeth Simon, she was born March 3, 1924, in Clarendon County, SC. Mother Williams was raised in the south during the Great Depression and as a young adult, with a zest for life, she moved north to the Catskill Mountains in New York where she met and married the love of her life, the late Leroy Williams. Together they built their life and raised their family in Hurleyville, NY. Early in life, Mother Williams accepted Christ as her savior and later, joined The King's Chapel Mission, Monticello, NY, under the leadership of Elder Jesse Wrenn. For many years she served as an usher and missionary. She loved Bible class and prayer service. So much so that she opened her home for weekly Bible study, prayer and tarrying services. She later became a faithful member of the Little Grove Holiness Church in Woodridge, NY, under the leadership of Bishop Thomas Ward, Jr., where she served as Mother of the Church. She was a member of the Soul Release Prison Ministry serving with her daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Barbara and Willie Jarrell and did volunteer work in the community. Mother Williams personified the Proverbs 31 woman, she always had time to share words of wisdom and encouragement. She was a Godly woman, a woman of beauty, a woman of grace, quiet spirit and love of laughter, a woman of excellence who walked with the Lord with integrity and dignity, knowing her purpose and destiny. She was truly a disciple of Christ, full of the Holy Spirit and loved worshipping the Lord, her life exemplified the blessings of God. One of the last words Mother Williams uttered was "Hallelujah". Her favorite songs were "The Lord Will Make a Way Some How" and "If I Can Help Somebody, My Living Will Not Be in Vain". She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Williams; daughter, Barbara Jarrell; sons Warren Wells and Woodrow Scarborough; grandson, Bobby Wells; sisters, Eva Mae Hansley, Annie Gamble and Rebecca Morris; and brother Eugene Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, John Henry Mayo, Sr. and Samuel Williams; one daughter, Lujeania Newton; two son-in-laws, Rev. Alonzo Newton and Rev. Willie Jarrell; four daughter-in-laws Patricia Mayo, Catherine Wells, Jackie Scarborough and Christine Williams; Fifteen grandchildren, Sharon, Monica and Duane Scarborough, Amanda, Tammy and Shaquille Wells, Treena Williams, Kory and Ashely Williams, Gina, Caleb and LaToya Newton, Micah Jarrell, John Henry Mayo Jr and Janae Mayo; Sixteen great-grandchildren, Ahmir McCree, Ian Newton, Jordan and December Williams, Ralph Jr., and Antoine Bickham, Sheldon and Josiah Wells, Saquan, Saquoia, Sakiera, Deja and Dyamond Scarborough, Dashe' Scarborough, James and Tytianna Best; a host of great-great grandchildren; one sister, Almeta Rogers; three God-daughters, Sarah Atherly, Kathy Crandall and April Lewars; one God-son, Cecil Lewars; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, too numerous to name.
