Carl was born in Mountaindale to Charles and Lena Morris January 3, 1940. He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He was a friend to some a brother a father and uncle to many.
He had a many great jobs; the fondest of which was driving whether it be trucks for the Felders, snowplows for the town, or heavy equipment for anyone that needed. He was known as Popa Ya to his co-workers and Pop to everyone else.
He is predeceased by his wife Darleen who passed last year of the same cancer. They left behind nine children: Judy Smith of Grahamsville, Terry Devito of Grahamsville, Tammy Miller of Loch Sheldrake, Carl (Skip) and Karen of Loch Sheldrake, Craig and Melody of Woodbourne, Paul of Brooksville, FL, Kimberly and Richard Rivera of Brooksville, FL, Nicole and Maurice DuBois of Woodridge and Troy and Michelle of Woodbourne. With such as large family it can only get bigger with 38 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren. Also, left behind were sisters: Theresa, Carol, Cathy, Arlene and Lena; brothers: Earl, Harry and Leon.
You would find Carl every Saturday morning at the Trading Post picking up Bagels for his weekly runabout to his local kids and every night at 7 p.m. you could count on a hot cup of coffee. The door was always open, conversation was always free.
He passed on March 1, 2015 quietly and comfortably in his home with his family by his side.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788, a funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
