Obituary of Daniel McCarthy

Daniel "Danny" McCarthy, of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. He was 80. He was the son of the late George McCarthy and Ann Finn, born on April 16, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY. Danny was a masterful checker player and affectionately referred to himself as the "history man" due to his wealth of knowledge on many historical topics. He had many friends that he had cultivated over the years and the most precious to him was his longtime girlfriend, Sandy. Danny will be remembered as a devoted family man and a proud Irish Catholic. He was a loving companion, brother, uncle and friend to all that knew him. He will be deeply missed. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his companion, Sandy Pollack; his sister Patricia Lee; his nieces and nephews: Debbie Vintaloro and her husband Bernie, Kevin Lee and his wife Debbie, Susan Murphy and her husband Scott, and Nancy Goodroad; and his great nieces and nephews: Kelly, Michael, Danny, Alexandra, Nicole, Lauren and Ryan. He now joins in heaven his two sisters Janice Marron and Marilyn McCarthy. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Peter's Church, Liberty Street and Broadway, Monticello, NY. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
