Please share a memory of Geroge to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George A. Bailey, 91, of Castle Rock, CO, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, surrounded by his daughters.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ednah Elaine Bailey, who died on June 29, 2013.
George is survived by his daughters Susan Tinucci and Laura Takach, their spouses, and three grandchildren. George was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
He lived a long and fulfilled life. George was born on June 9, 1923 in Plainfield, Michigan. He was raised on a produce farm with three brothers. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1946, with a BS in Chemistry. He spent his working life in New Jersey, where he met and married Ednah in 1954. While working as a chemist at Merck, Sharp & Dome, he earned his MBA from NYU. He also worked for Lederle Labs and then Schering-Plough, from where he retired after 28 years. He then moved to Melbourne, Florida, for his retirement years, to indulge in his love of golf.
While working as a chemist and researcher, he patented many well-known and widely used drugs. He had many passions: gardening, University of Michigan football, golf, investing in the stock market and most importantly his love for his family. He had moved to Colorado in February, 2014, to be near family. George was always good-natured and friendly. Everyone who met him instantly liked him.
He had so much more to contribute, and will be sorely missed.
