Christine Gibbs of the Bronx went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2020 after a short illness at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 80.
Christine was the daughter of the late Charles and Lubertha Dickerson Williams, born on August 27, 1939 in South Carolina.
Christine had the ablity to light up the room the moment she stepped into it. Her loving, charismatic, outgoing personality will be deeply missed. She always made her home a warm and welcoming place for all to come and visit, where you would leave with a full stomach and an afternoon full of laughs. She was always full of advice whether it was wanted or not. She always knew the right thing to say no matter what the situation was. She was small in stature but with her her feistiness you would never know it. On any given afternoon she could be found listening to James Brown while cleaning, cooking or relaxing. Christine never stayed in one place to long, she loved to travel and visit family when ever she got the chance. She loved God dearly and was an devoted member of Greater Bibleway Temple in Brooklyn for over three decades. She changed the lives of so many people and not just her large family; but she extended her heart and her home to many. She was a woman with a heart of gold and her love could go for miles. She was a role model for so many and will be deepely missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her step-father George Williams of Monticello, her 10 loving children Maryann Hilliard-Reed and her husband Will of Fallsburg, James Gibbs and his wife Sheila of Queens, Patricia James and her husband Creston of Dover D.E., Marilyn Gibbs of Brooklyn, Cathy Gibbs and her husband Cornell of Brooklyn, Michael Gibbs and his wife Vonda of Brooklyn, Zatone Gibbs and his wife Robin of Queens, Lakieya McIntosh of Brooklyn, Jarrett Gibbs of Albany, and Jalessa Gibbs of the Bronx, her step-son Gerald Vennings of Charleston, SC, her 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, her extended Pittsburgh Family and a host of beloved friends.
She joined in Heaven her husband James Gibbs, Sr. who passed away in 2001, her son Abraham Gibbs, her siblings Mary Dickerson and James LeRoy Williams.
