Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raymond John Lawlor, 77, of the Bronx, New York, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020. He was born on February 26, 1943, and was the son of the late Catherine and John Lawlor of the Bronx.
Raymond spent most of his life in the Bronx. He grew up in the Castle Hill section, where he attended grammar school and high school at St. Helena’s. He also served as an altar boy for the parish. Following graduation, Raymond worked on Wall Street as a bond trader, ultimately retiring from Bear Stearns. He returned to the Bronx to enjoy his retirement and could often be found at the Redwood Club.
Raymond lived a good life. He was a generous man who took great pleasure in being able to help others. He loved dogs, doo-wop music, the Yankees, and the Rangers. He was a dapper dresser and a great dancer. He loved everything about the Bronx and enjoyed spending time with his friends. In addition to the Redwood Club, he was a regular friendly face at Joe & Joe’s and The Wicked Wolf.
Raymond was active throughout his life. He was a member of the Elks and Jaycees in East Brunswick, New Jersey during the 1970s. He was part of the Gun Hill Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting in Blue Hill, Maine. Raymond was also a proud member of the Westchester & District Pipe Band.
Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Reilly Lawlor, his father, John Lawlor, and his sister, Veronica Lawlor. He is survived by his three children Raymond, Christine, and Susanne; his four grandchildren Quinn, Reilly, Thomas, and Megan; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many dear friends.
The Lawlor Family thanks all who knew and loved Raymond for being a part of his life.
They are especially grateful to Lenny for the countless memories, wonderful stories, and his unwavering friendship with Raymond.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at a later date at St. Helena's Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx.
