I met Barbara in our senior year at JF Kennedy high school in Paterson, New Jersey. I had just moved to Patterson after the untimely death of my dad. Barbara and I were in homeroom together. Unbeknownst to me she lived right around the corner. My mother was having a very hard time adjusting as was I. My mother was physically and mentally abusive. One very cold January day in 1968 we had a terrible argument. She became physically abusive, I ran out of the house without a coat. I walked the streets. It just so happened Barbara was out taking a walk too but she did have a coat on, thankfully, lol. She took me back to her home. I met her parents who readily took me in for several months. I loved Barbara and her family. Barb and I became great friends and had some great and wild times in our senior year.
The William’s unconditional love for me helped set me on my life track. While I lived with them I graduated from high school, started college and was able to eventually get my own place. Today, November 11, 2020 would have been Barbara‘s 69th birthday. I went to her Facebook page to wish her a happy birthday but her Facebook page was gone. After searching online I found out that she had passed. My heart aches. Rest in peace my dear friend. My condolences go out to her family.
