Obituary of Debra Duffy
Please share a memory of Debra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Debra Ann Duffy, 67, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021 in the comfort of her own home. Prior to moving to Brooklyn, Debi was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County who was known for her love of nursing. She was a retired Registered Nurse who worked at Harris Hospital (now CRMC), the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, and Roscoe Nursing Home.
When she wasn't caring for others, the rest of Debi's time was devoted to family – especially her five children, Courtney, Joshua, Nathaniel, Aaron, and Mallory. In addition to her kids, Debi's care and affection will be missed by her beloved grandchildren – Tyler, Kaleb, and Alexander, and one bonus grandson, Eddie. Pre-deceased by her brother Joseph Canazon of Middletown, Debi also leaves behind her brother, Michael Canazon, of Livingston Manor, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen & Michael Giarraputo of Holbrook, NY, sister-in-law Christine Canazon of Middletown, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the numerous medical staff at Maimonides Medical Center, NYU-Lutheran in Brooklyn, the Visiting Nurses Service of NY, and especially Dr. Matthew Maurer, the Heart Failure Team, and the unbelievable surgeons and staff at NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Milstein Family Heart Center who devoted years to Debi's healthcare.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Reformed Presbyterian Church, Route 17B, White Lake, NY 12786. A memorial service will follow immediately, with information regarding gathering for repass to be disclosed at the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to New York-Presbyterian Fund, Inc (In Memory of Debra Duffy) or to Debi's favorite charity - St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
