Obituary of Marcia Burns

Please share a memory of Marcia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

"Aunt Marcia" went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 1, 2021 with her niece Michele and great nephew Marshall by her side. Marcia was predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Virginia Burns and her stepfather, Eugene Johnson, as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law, Roland (Betty) Burns and John (Christine) Burns. She had 3 nieces and 6 nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, their children, and a large extended family. She was "Aunt Marcia" to many. Marcia was born deaf and physically handicapped but that never stopped her from living. Aunt Marcia was polite and kind. She was a hard worker and kept her house clean, enjoyed yard work, crochet and many other crafts during her lifetime. Marcia's greatest passion was photography. She took her camera everywhere. Every person, every event, was captured on film and proudly put into one of her many photo albums. Her greatest joy was her family. The annual Burns family reunion was her very most favorite event. She was also close to her sister-in-law, Christine's family, and was cherished and included at every one of their family gatherings as well. Marcia was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Monticello. From childhood in Sunday school through adulthood, she rarely missed a Sunday worship service. She enjoyed and was grateful for the support, prayers, and cards from her church family to the end. Marcia was fiercely independent, and many times expressed her frustration with getting old and not being able to do all that she used to do. A special thank you to Gary Senchak who filled the role of Home Health Aid for the last year and a half of her life. Gary helped to take care of Aunt Marcia with kindness, patience and humor. She told him many times, "thank you for your trouble." He provided care, security and companionship while her primary care giver, Michele, was at work, and/or fulfilling other obligations for her care. Aunt Marcia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held from 11am to 12pm, with a funeral service at 12 pm, on Saturday, April17, 2021 at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 55 St. John Street, Monticello, NY12701.
