Obituary of Alfred Smith
Please share a memory of Alfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alfred Smith, Jr., of Loch Sheldrake, passed away on November 4, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center Catskills, at the age of 73.
Born on November 22, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL. He was the son of the late Alfred Smith, Sr. and Daisy Smith.
Alfred made adventure, mischief, laughter and smiles a part of daily life and he often offered his thoughts and feedback, which were colored with humor and personality, and he could always make someone laugh. Alfred loved all things Batman, including the movies, Batman apparel and anything that had a Batman or Superman Logo. We know a picture of Alfred’s smiling face will automatically come to mind.
Alfred loved taking rides in the car and his brother would often take him, his mother, aunt, sister and nieces for a family ride around the property of Wassaic Development Center, where Alfred previously resided. He would yell and wave at friends along the way, and would introduce his family to his friends and workers there. He enjoyed the home cooked meals that his family would bring; especially his favorite, fried chicken and Sprite soda. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Alfred leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brother Michael Smith and his wife, Chen Huei “Joyce” Wu-Smith of Pasadena, CA; nieces and nephews: Tammy Jacobs of Brooklyn, NY, Emmanuel Jacobs of Orlando, FL, Isaiah Jacobs of Orlando, FL, and Tanya Dancer of Orlando, FL; great niece, Jasmine Dancer of Atlanta, GA; his cousins Dr. Billy Moore of Marietta, GA and Dr. Joyce Moore of Marietta, GA; his brothers-in-law Dr. Midas Wu of Taipei, Taiwan and Jiong Kuan Wu of Taipei, Taiwan; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and his very close family friend, Shelton Becton of Pomona, NY; as well as his extended family and friends at New Hope Community.
He is predeceased by his aunt Ernestine Jackson and sisters Amanda Yvonne Dancer-Smith and Joann Robin Smith.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude, appreciation and thanks to New Hope Community Staff for the many years of dedication, fine care and love bestowed upon Alfred. 409 Larry's Way holds a special place in our hearts.
A special appreciation goes out to Jackie and staff from Colonial Memorial Funeral Home.
