One year ago we mourned Mrs. Currey's passing. I only knew her as my grandson's kindergarten teacher. There is really no words to describe her except LOVE. She truly loved her students. Look at the way she stooped down to embrace Mason (McGinley) (June 14, 2019) at his little kindergarten graduation! That says it all!

Shirley is lighting up heaven with her wonderful laugh and smiles, and will be forever a precious piece of my heart. I have so many beautiful memories of our families together from visiting in NY when she was very little, sleigh riding, picnics, picking blackberries on Denman mountain, swapping stories about our boys as they were growing up, to sharing our joy at both of us becoming grandmothers in the past two years. She will be greatly missed. My love and hugs to Hank, Hankie, Glenn and Weston, Evi and their families.
Our condolences to Shirley's family. We have many happy memories of square dancing with the Henkes. Shirley never failed to greet us warmly when we would meet. Peace to all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Shirley is definitely going to be missed. There was never a dull moment watching her and my Mom (Annmarie) together at work. I’m so glad my Mom got to meet such an amazing person that turned into such wonderful friend. I want to thank you for all you have done for my Mom, she is truly going to miss you. One thing is for sure, Shirley has touched so many children and adults with her huge heart and endless support. I’m going to miss you, don’t be eating everyone’s goldfish up there ❤️
Dear Hank and Boys,
I was so sorry to hear about Shirley. What a wonderful person she was. When she found out that my sister was suffering from a similar disease, she messaged me to talk about it and sent a check to me for my sister. She didn’t even know her, but she still reached out to show her support and empathy. That was Shirley. She left this world a better place than she found it. She will be missed. I will be praying for all of you.

To watch Shirley teach was one of the joys of my career. Her love and energy knew no limits. In my time as her friend and colleague I cannot describe all of the lessons I took from her. In my mind the most important were love your family ferociously, live every second of your life to the fullest and the lesson she taught countless children - “kiss your brain”. I will miss you always and forever my dear friend. Ride fast up there with the wind in your hair and glitter flying from your tailpipe. My deepest sorrow belongs to her loving family. She spoke of you all often and lovingly. Thank you for sharing her with us for so long. Please know she will always be part of our KES family
