Obituary of Ison Junior Patterson

Ison Junior Patterson of Liberty passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at home. He was 60.

He was the son of Lilleth Patterson and the late Ison Ralph Patterson born on May 7th, 1961 in Kingston Jamaica, West Indies.

He migrated to the United States 8 years later with his father and siblings to join his mother who had arrived years prior. Ison attended Our Savior Christian Elementary School, and All Hollows High School in the Bronx.  He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Ison joined NYCDOC in January 1984, and was assigned to Rikers Island. Over his 20 year career, he worked his way through the ranks from Officer, to Captain, to Assistant Deputy Warden, earning a "Lifetime Achievement Award". 

He loved God, and loved serving others.  He was a member and Co-Head Usher for several years at the Vine and Branch Church in Liberty.  He loved "BMs", football in particular the Steelers, and he loved the Lakers, especially Koby Bryant.  

He is survived by his 101 year old mother Lilleth Patterson, his wife Joan Patterson, his four son Ison Jamaal Patterson, Jermaine Patterson, Jerrod Patterson, Javon Patterson, his precious grandsons Bryce Xavier, and Carter Dean Patterson, their mother Kemba Hazeley (dubbed aka "Special K" by him), his brothers Ashley and Ricardo, sister Patricia, nieces, grand nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, distant families in other countries, dear friends and colleagues (old and new).

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11am on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11am Ed and Robin Sostake will officiate. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery.
