I have so many fond memories of Aunt Barbara, I don’t know where to begin. First I would say from childhood, happy memories of her bringing chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting every time she came to visit! I went to the store and bought a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting in her honor the other day. I close my eyes and see Her beautiful smile and red hair when she was young. And then later her beautiful white hair! I remember her always wearing a bathing cap with a flower on it when she went swimming. I have fun memories of camping with our families together in Beaverkill in the Catskills. I remember she made a London Broil and it was really yummy. I remember her growing tomatoes in her little garden in Queens. I remember when I was a child she would give me money in my birthday card. And she would say money was a good gift you didn’t have to worry about the size or color like other gifts. … because money was “always the right size or color”. I remember her piercing my sister Nancy’s ears in her kitchen with a sewing needle and a potato and some ice! She also had a funny saying about the size of her clothes…. They made by “Omar the tent maker” She was very smart! She was an RN. I remember when I was a child she didn’t drive, but then she learned to drive because it was a requirement for one of her jobs as a nurse. That impressed me that she learned to drive late in life. She worked In The hospital with babies born with AIDS and babies who were born addicted to drugs. It takes a strong person to be able to do that. I remember she liked Opera. And she liked to play board games I was thankful that even after my dad died, she and uncle bob still came to visit my mom for many years. I remember her coming to my confirmation, my high school graduation. She and Uncle Bob even drove all the way “ upstate” to visit Scott and I in Oswego for Scott’s 40th birthday party. Most of all I remember she had a strong faith. She loved God and loved going to Mass at her Catholic Church. and I am glad that she is now at peace and no longer suffering. I regret I didn’t go visit her to show her my pictures from my trip to Hawaii when I had the chance before COVID shut down the world. I thought I had more time.
