Obituary of Carl T. Steinert
Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carl T. Steinert, of Woodridge, passed away on August 30, 2022. He was 63.
Carl was born on October 24, 1958 in Manhattan to Carl Steinert and Helen Kirwan. He worked in maintenance and as a cook for a few years before finally becoming a lineman for Verizon, from which he retired in 2020 after a twenty-year career. Carl had a special dream to drive every kind of vehicle; in search of that dream he drove tractor trailer trucks, all kinds of construction equipment including diggers and backhoes, and even took flying lessons and flew an airplane. First and foremost, however, Carl was a biker who lived for the joy of riding. He was a member of the American Spirit MC. He and the love of his life, Dolores Guttilla, rode to South Dakota to get married during Bike Week. Most of his retirement he spent on the road, enjoying the scenery, freedom, and fresh air; he lived in a way so that he had no regrets. Carl also enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, and eating a good meal. However, the “house rule” was that nothing should go to waste; even the culinary “mistakes” must be eaten. Most importantly, Carl had a heart for others, ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of friendship and support. He spent more than 30 years in a fellowship, “Friends of Bill,” and he was the founding father of Heinmeisters. He touched so many lives as a guiding light for countless numbers of people.
Carl was a son, big brother, uncle, friend, sponsor, cousin, and caring and devoted husband and father. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Dolores Guttilla; his cherished daughter, Jennifer; his grandson Billy; his siblings, Bobby Jim, Anne, Kathy, and Michelle; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and leaned on his strength and compassion.
