Rick I had no idea that you left us. Even though I left the clinic to work in psychiatry, I always thought of you as the most intelligent person. You taught me a lot and rewarded me with all the work I did that was above and beyond your expectations. May God and the angels be with you and let you know how much you helped all of the people that had addiction problems. You will be missed. Dianne Szczerba
Professor Rick was an amazing guy, a great role model, and one of my favorite teachers. He touched so many lives and cared deeply for his students and clients. His classes were masters level and prepared me for continuing education and work in the field. I've kept all the notes he prepared for us, including his counseling 2 exam. That final exam was something else. It took me a few days to finish it, lol.
Rick always emphasized the importance of empathy. I'll carry his words of wisdom as I continue my journey. I am sending my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
I was very saddened to hear of Rick's passing. I worked with Rick at Erie Community College. His dedication and passion to the college was undeniable. Always putting his students, staff and program first. He was very instrumental for the advances in my career while at the college. His hard work was infectious and only wanted to make you work that much harder. I am a better person for having known him and I will miss him dearly.

My first Memory was meeting Richard and being greeted by his warm smile. He made me feel welcome in his Family’s Home. My last Memory was Emalani’s 9th Birthday Party @ the Roller Rink. He was braver than I taking a spin & encouraging his grandchildren. Afterwords we sat together and talked about how fast life goes by and how Blessed we are to watch them grow. I will Miss Him. 6 hour exit exam. I am forever grateful that I was taught by this great man. His passion and devotion to making us be the best counselors in the field was second to none. I'm very sorry to his family for their loss. May God comfort them and bring them peace.
