Obituary of Gary Tempel

Gary Tempel, of Livingston Manor, passed away on December 9, 2022. He was 75.

Gary was born on June 28, 1947 in Liberty, NY to William H. Tempel and Virginia Foote Tempel. After obtaining his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Gary had a long, successful career in military law enforcement, serving as a special agent in the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations. After he retired from the military in 1988, he worked for the State of Florida Child Support Enforcement Agency.  He then moved back to Livingston Manor, where he was able to enjoy his many hobbies and interest in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Shandelee Hunting Club. He was also a skilled photographer who captured the stunning beauty of the Catskills and its incredible wildlife. Gary was also a football fan and could often be found enjoying games and cheering on his favorite teams.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Sonja R. Tempel (Paul Carmona); his grandchildren, Aciano, Liliana, and Servando Carmona; his brother Danny Tempel (Ellinor); his nephew, Heath Tempel; his niece, Jessica Davison; and his canine companion, Havoc, his beloved rescue dog.  

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10 am-12 pm at Colonial Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, followed by a funeral service with Military Honors at 12 pm, and interment at Riverside Cemetery in Roscoe, NY.
