Michael Joseph Pizza, 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, with his family by his side. He will be dearly missed. Michael was born in Brooklyn to John and Lottie Pizza on December 13, 1938.
Michael worked as a Heating and Refrigeration Engineer for the Port Authority of New York for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Before starting his career Michael served our nation in the United States Army. He married his love of his life Joann on February 11, 1978 and recently renewed their vows on April 22, 2012. He was an avid outdoors man enjoying all kinds of activities; hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He was a member of the Wawarsing Rod and Gun Club and a big supporter of the National Rifleman’s Association. Michael especially prided himself in supporting the Boy Scouts of America, receiving a flag from Operation Enduring Freedom for his involvement with the Boy Scouts.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years Joann, his daughter Sandra Lee and her husband Joseph of Napanoch, his son Carl Pizza and his fiancée Louanne Wright of Napanoch, and his daughter Valerie and her husband Henry of Accord. His granddaughters Nicole Burkey and husband Kyle of Napanoch, and Britney Lee of Napanoch. His great granddaughter Gabriella and his great grandson Matthew. His sister Helen Cass of Connecticut. His dear cousin Robert Fabiscak of Staten Island and his extended family Debby, Barbara and John. Along with many other friends and people he loved.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne NY 12788, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held the next day, November 11, 2017, at the funeral home, Reverend Father John Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.
