Obituary of Cindy Sue Kolakowski Burns

Cindy Sue Kolakowski Burns, of Woodbourne, passed away on July 27, 2023. She was 61 years old.

Cindy was born on June 6, 1962, in Livingston, NJ, to John V. Kolakowski and Irene Mazur-Kolakowski.  

Cindy was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, although she lived briefly in Cherryville, NC. She worked in the Sullivan County Clerk’s office for eighteen years and most recently as an Insurance Agent for State Farm in Liberty. Cindy loved her family and friends, cooking, traveling, family traditions, and her beloved dogs (whom she lovingly rescued).

She is preceded in death by her father, John Vincent Kolakowski; her mother Irene Mazur – Kolakowski and her mother Charlotte Kolakowski; her brothers, Paul Kolakowski, Daniel Kolakowski, and John Novak; her sister Cindy Novak – Marsh; and her nephew, Gerald Marsh Jr.

She leaves behind her son, Brian Burns and daughter- in- law Jenna Hartman Burns; granddaughter, Sophie Quinn Burns; sister, Alicia Shickle Cline; brother-in-law, Robbin Cline; sister, Amy Kolakowski – Muco and brother-in-law Bruno Muco; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 6-9 pm at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, with a funeral service at 8:30 pm officiated by Fr. Bob Porpora.
