I don't know how to express how George's constant presence in my life as another communal parent of our generation of kids; he was just always there, and I don't think his presence will ever leave me. I'll just repeat what I said the day he left us:
In my family we never had a lot in common with our blood relatives so we rarely saw them. Instead, we had my parents' (Mary and Scotty's) chosen family; their friends and kids who were all raised basically together in a big loud group. I am so lucky to have been raised by multiple pairs of parents, most importantly George and Debra. I lost my godfather this morning, he was so much more than that. Hug your loved ones, ask them about their family history, record interviews, take photos, and digitize old ones. Don't forget where you came from.
George was somehow simultaneously the most and least serious person I've known. The best sense of humor, the best smile, the most loving of this one life. <3 Forever in my heart, WHO LOVES YOU BABY!?
George always had a smile on his face at Sherman’s and took the time to tell you what he thought was wrong with your car and why he thought that way. He was never condescending and was respectful. My condolences to his family. A lovely man.
Hi. This is Henry Dyes. Like everyone in the Castillo family, George was a kind, fun and a great guy. He was one of those people who was older than me and I totally enjoyed being around him. I looked up to him and this world is missing something now that he is gone.
George and I met at Sherman’s garage in 1984. We worked for Scotty and shared lots of laughs. We remained friends until his passing, last call, as it were. We both lived in the house on Houghtailing Rd, where he and Debra, and many others lived in their younger years. Tiny and I will miss that smile and his unforgettable laugh.
George was one of a kind, always smiling always welcoming you in his home. He will surely be missed . May You Rest In Peace my friend. Carmine and Laura Buffalino
