Obituary of Carl Porter

Carl Porter, 79 of the Arc Greater Hudson Valley passed on Sunday morning, December 17, 2023 at Garnet Health - Catskills after a long hospitalization.

Born on July 27,1944 Carl enjoyed listening to upbeat music, relaxing at home and being visited by his friends and others who cared for him. Though Carl was not able to speak in the traditional manner, he spoke volumes with his eyes, hand gestures and by reaching too and grabbing those he was especially fond of.

Carl leaves behind many friends from his most recent home in East Dillon and previously the Brady IRA in Orange County, NY. His ARC family will sorely miss him.

Visitation will be at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne NY 12788 on Thursday December 21, 2023, from 10am to 11am with services to follow immediately.

On behalf of Carl, the following excerpt from the poem “I’m Free” is offered.

“If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss.”
