I remember so many things - from you taking me up on stage with you and your band when I was just a little girl - our big trip out west with the pop-up camper and you jumping across the hood of our car getting chased by a moose - you driving around North Branch in your old red truck with Jodi the dog riding shotgun - you teaching me to swim at the pool at Virckio's - you teaching me to ride a bike - you rescuing Jigger the orphaned calf and him living with us until he was big and strong enough to make it on his own - Butch and Cathy bringing us Thumper the hound dog for Christmas - sledding down the hill by our cabin when it had just snowed and the whole world was white and quiet - riding up the logging trails in the old post office Jeep that you and Uncle Bill fixed up - camping at the Finger Lakes, hiking up Watkins Glen and eating ourselves sick on Concord grapes - you teaching me to drive and not giving up even when I accidentally hit your foot - you driving me back and forth to my job in Liberty before I had a drivers license so I could learn the value of working and earning my own money - so many holidays and celebrations and always a table full of family and lots of love - dancing with you at my wedding. You taught me to have a good work ethic, to be a kind and decent person, to respect other peoples' point of view and to have some fun along the way. You always worked so hard and sacrificed so much in order to take care of everyone else. Thank you for everything Dad - I still hear your voice and your laugh in my head and I will always miss you but I know you are watching over all of us. I love you now and forever.

To my brother,
You were always there for George and I at the foster home. You always came back to check on us. You took us in when they kicked us out of the foster home, even though you had a wife and a baby. You were my rock. I will always love you.

Uncle Dale,
Although I didn’t see you often, because life gets so busy. When I did, it was like no time had passed. You always were like a big ole teddy bear, with the greatest sense of humor. I will miss those talks and that smile you always had. You were my absolute favorite Uncle and I looked forward to seeing you. My heart is heavy as I type this, love you always. Give my dad a hug for me.

Father's Day 2021 we went to the Rockland House for dinner. Paul and Uncle Dale agreed we would all pay our own bill. I asked the waitress for the entire bill even before we ordered. Shortly after, Paul asked the waitress for the bill. She politely said someone already claimed it. Paul then looked at Uncle Dale and said I thought we agreed. Uncle said said yeah ok. Uncle Dale thought Aunt Lou was getting the bill, Paul thought Uncle Dale was getting the bill. They just kept making subtle comments all during dinner thinking the other went against the agreement. It was fun to watch Uncle Dale thinking maybe he was paying but not sure. They were both confused yet thinking the other was getting the bill only to find out I was the one that got the bill. Absolute Happy moment for me that I won and it was the best and funniest Father's Day dinner.

There are so many memories, I could go on forever. You gave us such an amazing life. One memory I have is as a teenager, I went to a party, got drunk and needed a ride home the next day. You, as always, came to the rescue. However, on this day, you wanted to teach me a very valid lesson. If I thought I was grown enough to drink, then I was grown enough to drive with a hangover. Another fond memory is having you and mom as my chaperons for my junior prom. Many asked why I would want that; well, my answer was because they are my best friends and I hide nothing from them. And it was a beautiful evening to have shared with you. The days will go on, but the pain will never leave. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you as my Dad. I will love you forever.

There are so many from over the years. Uncle Dale has always been a big part of our family. As a child, I recall being intimidated by this big country man but found that he instead had a big heart and a lot of love for our family. All the BBQ's cooking at the grill with a beer in hand. Family gatherings he was the one you could see his smile from anywhere and hear him laugh. The way he made you feel welcomed and at home and the stories is what I will hold in my memories.

I remember him walking the halls of the school with that big tool belt, arms out wide due to the size of the belt! He was asked why he came to work so early? His response, “I had to make sure boilers were working properly, I didn’t want my “kids” being cold when they got there, “ meaning all the students! Many conversations more recent on his back porch with him about trucks and construction and family! He loved his whole family dearly!

One of mine and mom's favorite memories with dad, was at the Clayton Antique Boat Museum. It was during one of the boat shows and auctions. Dad was walking down by the docked boats he bumped in to a very tall man almost knocking him into the water. That man was Alan Jackson, when we told dad he said well he shouldn't have been on my blind side. Mom and I apologized and explained that dad couldn't see out of that eye Alan Jackson said it was okay and asked if we wanted a picture with him. We got our picture taken afterwards, dad said he was holding mom too close.
Mom and I laugh at that memory and will cherish it always.
We love you dad, thank you for all the great memories.

There are far too many memories to count and for that I am grateful. I will share one of the most recent memories I had with you.
That memory is me being your bartender. I served you the tiniest of sips to try of several different tequilas Aunt Janet brought. How excited you were to try the next one and curious to see what your opinion was of each. Although this entire moment maybe lasted 20 or 30 minutes, every minute and second of that memory was precious to me. I love you, Pop-pop and hopefully you have a decent bartender where ever you are now or they will have me to deal with.

Dale was one of the most loving, caring, selfless, and kind people I've ever known. I was lucky enough to call him PopPop and have so many amazing memories throughout my life. Although, we didn't live close, Nana and PopPop would make trips to visit especially to visit the Antique Boat Museum and Boldt's Castle. We went every year and although much stayed the same, PopPop was always as excited as the first time he saw it. When I graduated college, they made a special trip to watch me walk at graduation. I still remember his smile when he saw me in my cap and gown. My favorite memory by far, is the trip Nana and him made to Watertown to meet my son and their first great grandson, Everette. While they sat on the couch, he reminded Nana to hold his head and kept his hand there just to be safe. Until he finally said he wanted to hold him instead. The whole time, he couldn't stop smiling at Everette. Everytime we visited after that, he was quick to remind everyone that they better share the baby and he'd smile as soon as he saw Everette coming. I am so grateful that Everette got to experience his unconditional love the way I did growing up. I love you PopPop.

There are so many great memories that I have of my dad. This memory is one that I hold so close to my heart.
When Matt and I got engaged, Dad took me aside one day, he said he wanted to talk to me. He asked if I was sure I wanted to marry Matt. After I said yes, he took my hand, looked at me and said no matter where the Army sends you and Matt, if you need me and want to come home. Call me, I will be there as fast as my transportation can get me there no matter what. Then he hugged me and said let's go find your mother with watery eyes, I am sure she is looking for us. He always made sure we knew family was the most important thing in life. Holly Dunn had a song ”Daddy's Hands” that song, sings so true about my Dad. I know you are our angel now watching over us keeping us safe. I love you dad.

My dad is the one who gave me my love of all things outdoors. He taught me to appreciate nature and all of its beauty. I look at the beautiful mountains around me and I can hear his voice like we’re walking through the woods together. Watching him taught me to be brave and strong because that’s how he always was. He taught me to fish and took me for rides on his motorcycle. He taught me to ride horses and to love animals. So many memories!

Through music we live our lives. See and hear many of our memories we experience. Brad Paisley sang He Didn’t have to Be and this song sings true to my Dad and his love for us. I was five years old when he entered my life but I grew up as if he was in my life from day one. He was my best friend, my educator, my strength. I am the person I am today because of him. Growing up in orphanages and the foster system, Dads most cherished possession was his family. Everything he did was for my mom and us kids. He dedicated his life to working to ensure we had a beautiful home and a good life. Dolly Parton sang the song, A Coat of Many Colors, and that was my life with Dad. The coat was his love, affection, compassion, discipline, morals and ethics that he instilled in me and my siblings. We all have pieces of him within us that shines through and will carry on every day. The days are hard, but his memory carries us through. I see his smile, I hear his voice encouraging me through difficult moments. Dad will always be the strongest man in my life. He is my Hero and now he is my Forever Angel. I love you Dad.

That summer going into my senior year as I worked as a maintenance assistant under your dad and his crew was impactful and looked upon a fondly. He never got upset when mistakes were made and showed us "kids" how the "sausage was made" at TV. I recall him and I spent most the day looking for the pins in the fields so we can stripe them for the Football and Soccer teams. A lesson in patience.
