James L. Edwards Sr. of Parksville passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Montefiore Medical Center. He was 62.
He was the son of the late Lafayette Edwards and Hilda Ross, born on April 26, 1961, in Parksville, NY.
Known to many as Jim, he was a loving, dedicated husband, and father. For many years he took care of St. Peters Church and Cemetery, he took pleasure in cutting the grass at the cemetery. He loved fishing and would take yearly trips to Lake Ontario with the people he loved most to go Salmon fishing. This past year was his best year catching three very large Salmons. He would often be found spending time at a casino enjoying the atmosphere or playing quick draw.
He was a true jokester at heart and a jack of all trades, able to fix anything. He had a laugh that would light up a room encouraging others to join in with him. He always saw the best in people and was forgiving beyond people’s flaws. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved taking them camping and having their regular sleepovers. When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, he was hiking with his wife Sonia. Most recently he enjoyed making venison jerky and sharing it with the people he loved most.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 42 years Sonia Edwards, his children James “Jimmy” (Lisa) Edwards Jr., Heidi (Ed) Buhanick, his grandchildren Reign, Branden, EJ, Riley and Koby, his siblings Mary (Doug) Edwards, Phyillis (Ronnie) Bury, Beverly Edwards, and Barbara Edwards, his sisters-in-law Brenda (Milton) Welsh, and Karen (Mike) Gildersleeve, and his brother-in-law, Richard (Bethanne) Knapp, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
