Bill (Robert William) Bruning was born on August 10, 1940 of Claryville, NY formerly of Middletown, NY. He was the son of Louise Bruning Moshier and William H. Bruning.
Bill graduated from Middletown High School in 1957 and three years later entered the US Army, service from 1960 to 1963.
While living in the Middletown area he was a member of the Phoenix Engine Company, Circleville Fire Company, Washington Heights Fire Company, and was an Officer in the Claryville Volunteer Fire Department.
Bill was employed at IBM for thirty years only to enjoy many years of carpentry and politics after his first retirement. After moving to Claryville, he served as a Town Councilman for two years and then was elected Town Supervisor, staying in office for ten years until his second retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Bruning; son Robert S. Bruning, his wife Monica and their son Beau of Irving, TX; daughter Viki Tolson, her husband David and their daughters Caroline and Lillian of Waxhaw, NC; sister Suzanne Bruning of New Paltz, NY; all the Hadden and Duczeminski nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son William R. Bruning, whom he missed every day of his life; and his sister Donna Hadden.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service is to be held at 4pm at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11 am at Circleville Cemetery, 890 Goshen Turnpike, Goshen, NY with full military honors.
