My condolences to all of the family of Maria. We worked together at Hamilton Ave Hospital years ago. We had many memories of our family events between the Stewarts, the Edwards, and Tuttle's. Maria was always so much fun to be around. Sharon Stewart Lilley

To Maria's Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Maria's passing. She was a wonderful, caring person with a gentle soul and a great sense of humor.
We became classmates and friends while taking evening classes at Roscoe-RCS to enter in the Nursing (RN) Program at SCCC in 1983. In 1985 we became "official" Nursing (AAS) students at SCCC. With a lot of laughter, blood, sweat and tears we graduated in 1987 as the first AAS-Nursing class. Maria was our "rock" and we knew she would keep us going, no matter what. Through the years, we would see each other occasionally, and would catch up on each other's lives. She will be missed.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

When I heard that Maria was gone my mind raised so many memories of my childhood. Our families were so close like we were all one. Maria had the biggest and warmest smile that lit up her face. Maria and Ronnie took me in when I needed a place to stay I am forever grateful for that. We have suffered a huge loss that will never be replaced. She is in all our hearts forever. Love you Maria..forever..

Maria lived right across the road from me and was a friend of my older sister. For the first day of school (I think I was in 6th or 7th grade), I thought a red hairband would match my new dress nicely. Maria was wearing one and I asked if I might borrow it for the first day of school. She took it off then and there and handed it to me. After the first day, I returned it to her. But, the loan of that stretchy hairband made me feel well turned out for the first day of school.

My condolences to all family and friends. I have happy memories of when I was a teenager and Dad and Mom would host gatherings at our home in Grooville. Us kids playing in the attic; grown-ups playing cards in our big kitchen. Another fun memory was Graduation at Maria's house. Either Colleen's or Rae Ellen's. OMG, over 40 years ago. Maria was there for us Wells' when our Mom, Naomi was sick. Rest in Peace "Lovely Lady "

We always think we have time and this is a good example to prove us wrong. Marie was planning a trip, in March, to come to North Carolina to see us. This is where she went. If I didn't know better I would think Bert was at the wheel. I am so sorry for everyone that knew her. I will miss her little giggle and that soft voice of understanding. We had so much fun as kids and adults, I thank God for giving her to us. Bert and I look forward to seeing her again, but just not today. Love you my bbf and will miss you so very much
