I haven’t seen Debbie in many years, but I recall how fondly she and my mother, Connie, greeted each other when she came for a visit with her parents for a family gathering, and how she enjoyed it.

Having had the privilege to meet and work with Debbie during my initial years at New Hope Community was a true blessing. Her warmth and joyful spirit were infectious, and her collection of crossword puzzles was unparalleled—a testament to her love for them. Our bond remained strong even after I moved on from her residence. Every encounter with her was filled with warmth; my greeting of “Hey there Snook’ums” never failed to elicit laughter and her playful echo, “SNOOK’UMS”?? Debbie will forever occupy a cherished spot in my heart.
