Gary is predeceased by his mother, Catherine Kuhn; father, Edward Allees; birth father, Francis R. Bolles; son, Drew; granddaughter, Amelia; his sister, Anita; as well as his niece, York.
Gary was a devoted son, father, and grandfather who delighted in showing his love for others by preparing and sharing delicious food, razzing you lovingly, and texting or FaceTiming to stay connected. He was an avid conservationist who enjoyed fishing, hunting, tending chickens, and observing all of nature’s critters. He enjoyed skiing, golf, and baseball.
Gary was a quiet foodie who knew the value of well-made cookware, choice cuts of venison, and cooking in bulk. When he wasn’t cooking, he was eating and shooting the breeze with folks at the Pickled Owl.
Gary spent many days at the St. Lawrence River fishing and building the beloved family cottage.
He was always reading about one of his many hobbies, including how to care for his critters, how to refurbish a Cuisinart, or how to clean a pair of Swarovski EL binoculars. Gary was a sensitive, sentimental, and kind man who had nicknames for all his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
A celebration of his life will be at 2pm on May 4, 2024 at the Pickled Owl in Hurleyville.
