Obituary of Gary D. Kern

Gary Kern moved to Grahamsville, NY and attended Tri-Valley Central School during his teenage years. During this time, he developed a passion for fixing cars. Eventually, this passion turned him into a business owner. He owned several businesses, but Yit’s Auto Body was his biggest success. People didn’t stop at Yit’s Auto Body just to get their car fixed, but for a good laugh or to hear the latest gossip or enjoy a cup of coffee.

When he wasn’t working, he had many past times. He loved camping, UTVing, snowmobiling and horseback riding. He enjoyed endless miles of trail riding with his “Cowgirl up” wife, Jeanne Kern. Together, they loved living the cowboy/cowgirl lifestyle.

Gary was a hardworking, dedicated father and grandfather. He was always present at school events, and milestone events.

Gary was predeceased by his mom and dad Carl and Olga Kern, his brother Steve Kern, his nephew Matthew Kern and his loving wife of 38 years Jeanne Kern. He is survived by his children Travis and Diana Hartman, Dan Kern and Kristen Fiandra and Lacey Hartman and Greg Wylmott. His grandchildren Andrew and Austin Hartman, Aiden and Emily Lautenshlager, Taylor and Andrew Fiandra, his nieces Kristy and Diane, brother Carl Kern. He had several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donation scan be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or Catskill Animal Inc. 263 Old Monticello Road, Liberty, NY.

Memorial visitation will be on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 3-6:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 5:00pm.
