Obituary of Patricia Ann Hoag

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patricia Ann Hoag, daughter of the late Willard and Joyce (Hadden) Townsend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Born May 8, 1959, she arrived in this world five minutes before her identical twin sister Pamela Otero in Walton, NY.  She resided in Downsville, NY along with her other sisters Nancy Howard (married to Nelson) and Lisa Emerich (married to Craig "Butch”).

She graduated from Downsville High School in 1977 before going on to attend Mohawk Valley Community College. Shortly before leaving for college, she met the love of her life, Randy Hoag of Livingston Manor, NY. When they  married in 1978, Patti transferred to Sullivan County Community College and finished her degree. Together, they raised three children and enjoyed 46 years of marriage.

Patti enjoyed a 40-year career at Sullivan County ARC as a production manager. When she retired from ARC, in true Patti T fashion, she got bored quickly and decided to go back to work. Using her experience from ARC, she transitioned into a special education teaching assistant position at Sullivan County BOCES. Patti created long-lasting friendships throughout her employment, some of whom became extended family.

Her legacy carries on through those she is survived by. Beginning with the most important pieces of her life, her children Charlie Hoag, Ashley Hoag-Irwin (married to Evan Irwin), and Jillian Hoag; grandchildren Cameron Hoag, Adam Hoag, Peyton Irwin, Jaxson Irwin, and Brooklyn Irwin; brothers-in-law Arthur Hoag (married to Joyce), David A. Hoag and Thomas Sherwood; sisters-in-law Cindy Simon and Tammy Elizer; father-in-law David W. Hoag (married to Joyce); two special aunts, Anna Kowalik and Jean Ward; as well as lots of nieces and nephews. Patti is predeceased by her nephews Adam Lasky and William Simon; as well as her husband's grandmother Flossie Ward.

A celebration of life will be held at Colonial-Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 on Sunday, June 2nd from 2 to 4pm followed by a memorial luncheon in Patti's honor at the Livingston Manor Fire House.

Due to the generosity she experienced, in lieu of flowers, Patti's wishes are that donations be made to the Allyson Whitney Foundation, https://allysonwhitney.giv.sh/70c3, and the Ride 2 Survive Foundation, P. O. Box 282, Youngsville, NY 12791, to continue support for other cancer patients.
