Obituary of Samuel Presti

Samuel Presti, 79 of Woodridge, passed away on May 12, 2017. He will be sorely missed. Sam was born on March 24, 1938 in New Jersey to Rocco Presti and Rachel Annetti Presti.

Sam grew up in New Jersey and moved to the Catskills in 1972. He first worked as a school bus driver for the Ellenville area. He then opened up Sam’s Auction Sales where he used his keen skills of bargaining and dealing to serve his community and build a profitable business. Sam loved what he did, he was always on the hunt for a deal at flea markets and yard sales. He enjoyed good conversation and always gave his opinion, even when others weren’t looking for it. He was a tinkerer he loved working in his garage and in the yard, taking things apart and putting them back together. Most of all Sam was a family man; He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Sam leaves behind his companion of 33 years, Iris McDole; his sons: Ken Presti and his wife, Rosie, Mark Presti and his wife, Susan and Jeff Presti; his step-sons: James Kleiser, Donald Seacrest and his wife, Kathleen and Alvin McDole and his wife, Debbie; his nine grandchildren along with many friends made over a long life. He is predeceased by one brother.  

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and  7 to 9 p.m.  on Tuesday, May 16th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne NY 12788.  A funeral service in Sam’s honor will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 17th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ulster Heights Cemetery.
