Joel M. Fisk III, 55, of Livingston Manor, NY, passed away peacefully in his home on December 22, 2015 with his wife and daughters by his side.
Jody was born on June 23rd, 1960 to Eleanor Norris Fisk and Joel M. Fisk Jr. in Liberty, NY. He graduated from SUNY Cobleskill with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management and later pursued a degree in Land Surveying Technology. He was employed by George H. Fulton as a surveyor for 19 years, and for the next 13 years worked as a Stream Technician with the Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation District.
He loved spending time outdoors with his family and friends; hiking, fishing and kayaking. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking, camping and gardening. He was always willing to fire up the barbecue and share a glass of his homemade wine. He was an honorary member of the Beaverkill Valley Fire Department, member of the Cradle Rock Ridge hunting club and the NRA. He will be remembered for his wisdom, courage, and strong beliefs in the values of respectfulness, responsibility, and trustworthiness. He was always able to brighten the room with his witty sense of humor.
Jody was predeceased by his father Joel M. Fisk Jr., maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his loving soul-mate and wife of 34 years, Sherry L. Jones Fisk; his two adoring daughters Lindsay and Jessica Fisk; his devoted mother and step-father Eleanor and Jim Rose; his brother Dan Fisk and wife Betty; his brother Ken Fisk and wife Linda; father and mother-in-law Clayton and Jeanne Jones; sister and brother-in-law Shelly and Philip Lindsey; one niece, two nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Jody’s life will be held at the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church 568 Old Route 17 on Monday December 28, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery White Sulpher Springs, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Beaverkill Valley Fire Department, Ride 2 Survive of Sullivan County, The Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties or any wildlife conservation group of one’s choosing.
The family would like to recognize and thank Dr. Ronald Harris and his wonderful nursing staff at Broome Oncology in Johnson City for their compassionate care, and Drs. William Jarnagin and Kelly Olino of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
