Obituary of Mary Lois Carr

Mary Lois Carr, 73 of Loch Sheldrake, New York, was born January 4, 1948 in Wallace, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Hospital, Harris, New York.

Mary Lois went to Charity High School in Wallace, North Carolina. Following her

older sisters, she made her way to Woodridge, New York, until she found her forever home in Loch Sheldrake, New York, where she lived until her passing.

Mary Lois was known for her kind heart that was always opened to anyone in need. She provided child care for not only her kids, but her grandkids, as well as the neighborhood kids. From teaching her loved ones how to make her famous dishes, to keeping an ear open for whomever needed. She was loved by everyone and played a huge part in the community. Mary was a believer and follower of Jesus and enjoyed very often listening to her gospel music.

Mary Lois was the daughter of late Levi and Mary Lucille Carr of Wallace, NC.

Mary Lois set the roots for a large, loving family of 7 children, and 12 grandchildren. She was survived by children, Nellie Torres (Roger) of Loch Sheldrake, NY, Victor Carr of Loch Sheldrake, NY, LaQuisha Samuel (Derrick) of Monticello NY, Lori Ann Torres of Monticello NY, Dennis Arscott (Christina) of Indian Trail NC. Grandchildren Scott Musgrave Jr, Adja Torres, Nicole Christopher, Kenneth Christopher, Atwoun Ackerley, Sarah Carr, Tatianna Ackerley (Luis), Zen Marcus Arscott, Ariella Arscott, Qataiyah Williams, Antonya Arscott, & Xiomayra Arscott. She also had many great grandchildren in which she loved dearly. Mary was also survived by siblings, brothers, James Earl Carr (Carrie) of NC, David Carr (Celestine) of NC, Willie Carr (Angie) of GA, Ledell Carr (Desirie) of FL, Gary Carr (Robin) of VA, and sisters, Annie Sanabria of NY, Mattie Carr of NJ, Eunice Carr of NJ, and Grace Carr of NC. Along with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary Lois was predeceased by her two children, Belinda Victoria Torres and Michael Leon Torres, siblings, Edward (Mamie) Carr, Robert Charles Carr, Victoria (Queenie) Carr, & Margaret Herring. Mary was also predeceased by Marcelino Torres, William "Yogi" Wheeler, Sydney Arscott, & Charlton "Sam" Samuel.

Mary Lois Carr was a loving, warm hearted woman who was loved by anyone who crossed her path. She will be missed dearly by everyone.

A service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Rd., Monticello, NY 12701. A burial will follow at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello, NY.
