Obituary of Howard LeRoy Petro

Howard LeRoy Petro of Neversink, NY, went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2023. Born on September 14, 1951, He was the son of Delila Grant and George Petro. Howie made his home in Neversink for 71 years.

Howard married Brenda Gottman Petro on December 27, 2003. They were married for 16 years. He worked at Yaun Co. Inc as a Sheet metal fabricator, Ashley Mechanical Inc. as a sheet metal installer and for James Stephenson as a Sheet Metal Fabricator and Installer. He was a 50-year member of the Neversink Fire Company, commissioner from 2016-2022. A member of the Aden Night Riders, and Sullivan County Trail Association. He was an avid hunter, bowler, and loved the outdoors and NASCAR.

He is survived by his sister Alma Petro Woolbert and her husband Richard Woolbert and his nephew Curt Woolbert and his wife Belinda and their son Joseph Woolbert.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Howard's name can be made to Neversink Fire Department, P.O. Box 627, Neversink, NY 12765.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 3pm on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service and firematic service will follow immediately at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at the family cemetery.
