Aww . . . I just heard that Brad died. Such a wonderful person and a great friend. My wife Nancy and I knew Brad for forty years. We met him when we were looking for a daycare service for our new daughter Alexandra, b. June 1984. His friend and companion Peter, and Jane cared for a half dozen kids in the West Village. I was a self-employed carpenter-builder so I was really pleased to get to know Brad who was a self-employed painter-finisher-designer-manager and much else besides. As everyone knows, Brad had an extraordinary aesthetic sensibility for design, colors, finishes and so much more. And everyone loved him and prized his skills. Over the decades he worked on some of my commercial projects and on our own loft in Manhattan and house in Sag Harbor. His last project for us was managing a double bathroom renovation at the SH house in summer 2017. He lived there for a few weeks and managed the carpenters, plumbers and electricians. My wife Nancy and I came out to help finish the project. She and Brad painted everything. We all loved working together. He was so much fun, so creative, and so interested in everything, from crafts to cats to politics. Then in 2021, our grown-up daughter Alexandra hired him to paint her new 1920s era art deco apartment in the Lower East side. I helped him on that project, in part to move it along but also just to work along side hims. Such a pleasure. As always, his taste in colors and craft execution were exquisite. We will miss him dearly. Nancy and Alex may add more thoughts in their messages. I will try to find photos of Brad in case his family would like them. If anyone would like to talk with me about our experiences with Brad, call me at 646-201-1516.
